The Alfa Romeo RZ (Roadster Zagato) is a rare open-top sports car. It was built from autumn 1992 to the end of 1993 as a roadster version of the SZ coupé. The basis was provided by the Alfa Romeo 75 with a 3.0-liter V6 engine. Due to high costs of around 140,000 DM, only 241 regular examples plus 37 cars built by Zagato were built. The car uses the technical framework of the Alfa Romeo 75 with rear-wheel drive and transaxle design. The distinctive, angular shape is made of composite materials (glass-fibre reinforced plastic) on a steel skeleton.Engine: A 3.0-litre V6 engine with 209 hp powers the car. The RZ has no roof and a flatter, longer windscreen. Due to the lack of a roof, the body received considerable stiffening. The roadster is around 120 kg heavier than the coupé. In contrast to the mostly red SZ, the RZ was available in red, yellow, black and very rarely in silver metallic. 350 units were planned. Due to a lack of demand, only 278 cars were built in total (241 ex works via Alfa Romeo and 37 under Zagato's own management).
